Venting my spleen & Jack will be back.....
Arsene has previous for showing faith in injury plagued starlets. He extended Rambos’ contract whilst Aaron was mid-comeback from his leg-shattering injury, he has stood alongside Diaby whilst Abou has battled every injury you can think of. He sees the talent & promise & believes in them. If it pays off, as in Aarons case, it looks like a stroke of genius as they battle to pay back the faith shown in them. It’s a massive gamble though. It’s a whole sh!tload of chips on one number in roulette. It’s eating from the communal peanut bowl at the bar.

We are all aware of Jacks’ injury woes & sporadic appearances. I listened to a pod a couple of weeks back ( Bergkamp Wonderland, The Aussie physio fella, first name was Dom, cracking knowledge ) where they had a trained physio mention that Jack often compensates for his injuries by using the other leg more often, thus placing more strain on himself. We pretty much know that he will have these niggles & knocks because he is combative. He’s a terrier, a wee bastard annoyance in the park who will nip your heels until the stick of possession is in his grasp, then he will put the burners on & leave you for dust, searching for opportunities. He gets chopped down regularly because he moves quicker than most & because other players f*cking hate him.

It would seem a common thread of my pieces is lamenting the poor fitness of our players. If Theo had stayed fit, IF Rambo was in our side, IF Mesut didn’t miss those games. It’s a f*cking valid point though. If they were an ever-present in our team this season, the 7pts that separate us from the pinnacle of the League would be none-existent, much like a Scouse Bus Parade. I also think that Jack is still one of our most important players.
"Wilshere received praise for his performances and potential from a variety of fellow professionals; Barcelona and Brazil defender Dani Alves referred to Wilshere as ‘a great player’, and compared his potential to that of Barcelona midfielders Andres Iniesta and Xavi,[86] while Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger called him ‘one of the best players there are’ in his position.[87]Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus hailed him as “a perfect player”“
Thank you Wikipedia for those quotes. So that’s Wenger & some of the players who ply their trade in the Higher Echelons of football who all testify that Jack has the makings of something special. Even Woy Hodgson, that perspicacious, wizened man, stated that Jack was 100% on the plane to Rio. Jack who wasn’t fit. The England Manager, who at the best of times faces more defamation than Piers Morgan on Twitter, goes on record to say a player who isn’t fit is still assured of a place. There is a reason for all this confidence vested in the injury-jinxed young man.
It’s the performance Vs Barcelona, it’s the vision & composure showed during THAT goal Vs Norwich, it’s the passion he shows in EVERY game. He has every tool he requires to chisel a niche into not only our midfield, but for his country. It’s fact that Englands centre is weaker than ours but in my ever so humble opinion, a fit Jack HAS to start for us. He can be box-to-box like Ramsey, he can pass as well as any ( bar The Umluated One, but that’s Gods Work ). His tackling, when timed well, is vivacious. He needs fine-tuning on certain aspects, but it amazes me that people don’t mention his name more when crying over our season. His absence has been felt.
I’m going on record now. Hear me well, fellow Gooners. If Jack stays fit next season, I say now, that he will be in the Premier League Team of the Season. He will be one of our leading lights & he will once more be considered one of our best. We’re due some luck with injuries.
